WOTD (Website of the Day)

Today's WOTB or Website of the Day is Post Secret.

Post Secret is a project run by Frank Warren. Quite simply, people from around the world send in their secrets (on post cards) to Mr. Warren, who lives in Maryland. Mr. Warren then posts a select group of them on the community website and publishes most of the others in the Post Secret books (there are now five).

Post Secret is really interesting as it brings out a lot of secrets that people would otherwise never reveal. Adding to this is the anonymity of the senders. Without the identities of the postcards' authors, nothing truly personal about the secrets can be revealed. This leaves readers to wonder and speculate if they know the sender or if the secret is related to them.

The secrets have also shed light on a number of social issues, the main one being suicide. Confessions made by post card are almost impossible to trace, and this has led to a number of secrets relating to death, suicide and depression. Though somber, these secrets also led to a lot of good, such as the Suicide Hotline being publicized on the Post Secret website.

All in all, Post Secret is an interesting project and social experiment. What secret would you send in? Have you already sent one?

The Post Secret website is updated every Sunday, and Post Secret books are available at most major book stores and online.

POTD (Podcast of the Day)

I am going to confess that I am a complete nerd.

I like NPR (National Public Radio), and I love their show Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!

WWDTM is a weekly show that combines quizzes, interviews, poems, comedy and news. It's a great way to get a weekly briefing on what's been going on in the world. There are about 6-7 different segments during each show, and the segments vary from week to week. Among things that change weekly are also the show's panelists, the group of 3 people (usually intellectuals and/or authors/writers) who answer most of the show's questions. Each week the show's guests also change and can range from former government officials (Madeleine Albright) to computer geniuses (Steve Wozniak). Guests are asked onto the show to play the game "Not My Job" during which they answer questions about, well as you would guess, occupations that usually have nothing to do with them.

All in all, WWDTM is fun and slightly geeky, and I always giggle when I'm listening. Not just for intellectuals, or die-hard NPR fans, WWDTM is a show for everyone who likes to keep up with current events.

WWDTM is available through the NPR website, app and as a (FREE!) podcast on iTunes.

Long time no see!

Dear Blog,

I'm sorry for neglecting you. Who knew 17 credits meant having no time to eat, sleep or blog? (Well, besides on Tumblr, where clicking reblog is the easiest thing in the world.)

My resolution for 2011 (besides eating 3 proper meals a day and exercising more) is to post regularly on here.

I think I'm going to go towards more "TOTD" or Thoughts of the Day, instead of pictures. This is all because of how annoying it is to crop, rotate and upload pictures everyday. So, expect more musings and personal philosophies from me in the future!

Style Book, Post #2

As promised, here's another installment of my style book posts
Gotta love the simple white pumps! They're innocent, cute, and not too high.

Cowboy boots made from PVC. Have to fess up to owning the third pair on the right, but they're horrible quality. Love the design, so I'm looking for something similar still, but absolutely horrible quality.

Love these heels. They're simple and elegant, with just a bit of sophisticated detailing.

Almost bought these online, but I resisted. I'd love to wear them with a pair of dark wash jeans though. They give off the casual vibe, but the height of the heel lets everyone know that you're not to be messed with.

Yumeko posted this adorable bag she got a while ago. Love the pattern (maybe not the bear, since it is a little creepy) and the detailing on the straps. Plus the pockets on the side seem like perfect hiding places for a phone and a pack of gum.

Have to own up to buying these as well, but in a dark gold. Haven't decided if I want to keep them or give them away as a present. But they are cute metallic pumps that would put a little oomph into any outfit.

Image credit: Cure Thrift Shop at (Check them out!)
I love shopping at Cure! You never know what you'll find there. (Say, a Uniqlo sweater for $4? Or maybe a brand new BCBG dress for under $20? Or even a stylish wool skirt for $4?) I also love the outfits they put together for their mannequins and subsequently post on their Tumblr (which you should follow for updates and sales, they ship items, too!). I love the frills in the first picture, since they're so feminine and cute. But I have to say I really like the blazer and wrap dress in the second, since they just scream put-together, and the necklace really ties it all in.

Image credit: N/A, can't remember where I saved this picture from, unfortunately.
This is one of those dresses that I love, but could never pull off. I just don't have the body type for it (my shoulders are wide). But the lace details are amazing, and the layers of ruffles just add to it.

Not exactly in line with everything else I just posted, but what can I say? I'm a girl with varying tastes. Love the simple t-shirt and jeans combo, plus the kick-ass sneakers. The flannel shirt he's carrying just completes it, since it's along the same color scheme as the shoes. And the LV passport case and bag bring the whole outfit up a notch. Nice job, Jaejoong.

Style Book, Post #1

So, here's a little secret I bet none of you knew: I keep a style book.

What is this style book? A collection of pictures and articles of things that inspire me or fit my personal style. So far, it includes things on fashion, beauty, architecture, interior design.

But, it doesn't physically exist yet. Right now, it's sitting in my Google Docs, waiting to be printed, cut and paste into something resembling a scrapbook.

Even though it doesn't exist yet, I figured I'd share some pictures from it today. And maybe even make this into a type of post I do.

Without further ado, here are some of my inspirations:
Can't remember where I saved this from, but I love the flower detailing and the closing on this bag. Plus, it's black so it matches with everything. Downside: Silver accents, not exactly as universal as black, but pretty close.
Again, can't remember where this was saved from, but I think it's an Alexander Wang dress? Simple, yet elegant.
Jimmy Choo gladiator heel! Oh how I love you! Bold and red, they make a statement. Not unlike the Michael Kors gold gladiator heels I have.

001. Old OOTDs

Found my camera! Unfortunately the sun set before I could take a picture of today's OOTD (I like natural light! The lighting here in my basement is horrible, if you saw it you'd understand why I'm not taking pictures down here.) So here are three older OOTDs from a few weeks ago, click the images to enlarge:

Purple Please!
The Breakdown: Purple Gingham Shirt (American Eagle), Khaki Shorts (DKNY Active)

黑澀會 (Hei Se Hui)-Inspired School Girl
The Breakdown: White Polo (Aeropostale), Red Sweater Vest (Lacoste), Pink Shorts (Taiwan)

I Can Rock...Sort Of
The Breakdown: Pink/Blue Checked Shirt (Hollister), Black Lacy Tank Top (American Eagle), Grey Skinny Jeans (Uniqlo)

Technical Difficulties

Well, it seems like I've run into a bit of a problem, or er, technical difficulties. I can't find my camera, and my phone doesn't have an image stabilizer, so OOTDs are out of the question until I find my camera.

Here you'll see daily posts of my OOTD (outfit of the day), FOTD (face of the day), EOTD (eye of the day), NOTD (nail of the day), SSOTD (shoes and socks of the day), POTD (product of the day), MOTD (music of the day), BOTD (book of the day), and more. Happy clicking! :]

08/01/2010 Note: Today in a Bottle is officially up!

08/13/2010 Note: To better organize posts, each post will be labeled with what it contains (i.e. OOTD, FOTD), any brands mentioned (i.e. Forever21, Hollister, DKNY, Uniqlo), and any colors mentioned. The label "Taiwan" will be for all of my brand-less clothing purchased in Taiwan.
